Over 100,000 quilts from museums, documentation projects, and private collections, searchable by pattern, maker, time period, location, and thread color. The collection spans the early 19th century to the present and includes quilts made by Rosa Parks, Susan B. Anthony, and thousands of unnamed makers whose work would otherwise exist only in family attics and museum storage.

Over 1,200 maps that were made to argue, not navigate. These are maps that distort scale to exaggerate threats, redraw borders to justify conquest, or color-code data to build a political case. The collection spans the 1490s to the present, covering wartime propaganda, commercial advertising, religious allegory, and political satire. Every entry includes collector's notes explaining what the map is trying to make us believe and how.

Over 223,000 Japanese woodblock prints from 24 museums, libraries, and auction houses worldwide. The full collection is preserved at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Co

volunteer-driven preservation effort to digitize 78rpm shellac records from the era between 1898 and 1960. Hundreds of thousands of recordings are freely available to stream, covering everything from rural gospel to Italian opera to field recordings of animal sounds. The discs are so fragile that picking them up can cause them to shatter, making digitization the only way to keep the recordings accessible.

The world's largest scientific archive of wildlife media, housed at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. The collection holds over 3.2 million audio recordings covering 96 percent of the world's bird species, along with 84 million photographs and hundreds of thousands of video clips. The oldest recordings date to 1929, when two Cornell researchers captured the songs of a house wren, a song sparrow, and a rose-breasted grosbeak in an Ithaca park.
